Artist Statement

The work of Hieronymus Bosch has fascinated me since childhood — from the moment I began discovering the world of art and understanding that an image does not have to be merely beautiful or descriptive. It can also be unsettling, symbolic, dark, and endlessly layered. The Garden of Earthly Delights has, in a way, accompanied me throughout my entire life. It is a work I have returned to again and again — each time with a different experience, a different perspective, and a different ability to read its strange and fascinating language.

Only years later, thanks to contemporary technologies, did I allow myself to explore this work again in detail. A major source of inspiration for me was the digital exploration of the painting created with Micrio technology by Marcel Duin and developed for NTR by the studio Q42. This possibility of entering deep into the details of Bosch’s painting opened up a new way of perceiving the work — not as a single static whole, but as a vast living world composed of small scenes, symbols, figures, gestures, monsters, desire, fear, and warning.

As an AI video creator, I tried to continue this world using a contemporary visual language. With the help of artificial intelligence, I first digitally cleaned the painting from craquelure and then began to animate its individual parts. My intention was not simply to animate a famous painting, but to reopen its inner logic — to separate individual scenes, look into their hidden meanings, and reconnect them into one complex audiovisual work.

HyperBosch: The Garden Reanimeted is, for me, a personal return to an image that has accompanied me since childhood, but also an experiment in how artificial intelligence can enter into dialogue with historical art. Bosch’s world is already so visionary, grotesque, and almost timeless that it seems as if it had been waiting for new technologies. AI allowed me to approach its details in a different way — not to explain them, but to awaken them to life again.
